Warrant issued for motorcyclist suspected of 20-minute ride between Colorado Springs and Denver
“We will NOT tolerate this,” reads a press release issued by Colorado State Patrol, announcing an arrest warrant that’s been issued for a motorcyclist who went viral online after posting a video capturing a trip that showed him allegedly traveling from Colorado Springs to Denver on I-25 in a shocking time of about 20 minutes last September. The trip would normally take about an hour.
According to the release, suspect Rendon Dietzmann, 32 and from Texas, traveled the route on September 28, 2023, hitting speeds of over 150 miles per hour, while also narrowly squeezing through gaps between vehicles on the crowded route, traveling on the shoulder, and “putting hundreds of people in jeopardy.”
Dietzmann has posted videos capturing similar behavior taking place in other parts of the country, according to the press release.
The press release from Colorado State Patrol reads: “With the intention of bragging about his excessive speed from Colorado Springs to Denver, this rider recorded and posted his journey between these two cities online, including his speed and complete disregard for his safety and those around him. Numerous drivers and online viewers contacted the Colorado State Patrol regarding the incident.”
The arrest warrant was issued for the following charges: menacing (placed another person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury), engaged in speed contest, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, speeding 40 mph over Prima Facie limit, engaged in exhibition of speed, and vehicle had no number plates attached.
The video was originally posted by YouTube user Gixxer Brah and has since been removed by the media platform due to violating YouTube guidelines. With 250,000 subscribers, the Gixxer Brah channel remains on YouTube, with the most recent video being posted two days ago.
A ‘Gixxer Brah’ Instagram page also exists that seems to be linked to this YouTube channel, though it is worth noting that the name ‘Will’ is featured in the bio of that profile – obviously, a bio can be made to read nearly anything a user prefers. This Instagram account has 169,000 followers.
The term ‘Gixxer’ is slang for a Suzuki GSX-R sport bike in the motorcycling community.
Dietzmann was identified as the suspect in the case through an investigation that involved the Dallas Police Department, the El Paso County District Attorney’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol.
“Illegal and reckless driving behavior will not be tolerated in Colorado,” stated Sergeant Troy Kessler, with the Colorado State Patrol’s Public Affairs Office. “We care too much for those traveling on our roadways to ignore the blatant disregard for the safety of others.”
