Large amounts of firearms, narcotics and cash found at Colorado Springs residence

A man was arrested after an “extraordinary amount,” of cash, narcotics and firearms were discovered inside a Colorado Springs residence, according to police.

Police said on Friday, a collaborative effort between the Police Department’s Tactical Enforcement Unit, Violent Fugitive Task Force and Metro Narcotics Unit uncovered information regarding a violent fugitive — identified as 41-year-old Nathan Meek of Colorado Springs — in the area carrying several active felony warrants for menacing charges, burglary and assault.

Lt. Mark Chacon with the department’s Metro Division said investigators were able to find Meek at an apartment near the 2600 block of Verde Drive.

According to Chacon, Meek escaped through the back entrance of the apartment complex, and jumped a fence before being apprehended in a joint effort by authorities with the police units.

Detectives discovered a stolen firearm, fentanyl pills, methamphetamines’, and U.S. currency on Meek at the time of his arrest, the department said.

According to Chacon, investigators conducted a warranted search of Meek’s residence where an additional 4.8 pounds of methamphetamine, 80 grams of cocaine, $3,020 cash, 1.5 pounds of refined marijuana, 1,220 fentanyl pills, two handguns and two shotguns were uncovered.

“Fentanyl is a drug that’s running pretty rampant in our community and anytime we get a seizure like that it’s definitely positive for us (CSPD) and for our community,” Chacon said.

As of Tuesday, Meek was still listed in custody at the El Paso County jail.
