CSP seeking public’s help in hit-and-run near Fountain
The Colorado State Patrol is asking the public for assistance as it investigates a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian Monday.
A 34-year-old man was riding his bicycle south near 13610 Old Pueblo Road close to the right shoulder south of Fountain when a southbound vehicle hit the bicyclist. The location of the crash was about one-half mile north of Birdsall Road, State Patrol said in a news release.
“The vehicle failed to remain on scene. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries,” according to the emailed news release.
The vehicle, caught on an area security camera, is believed to be a dark 2006-2013 Chevrolet Impala, and should have damage to the front right corner and headlight (passenger side), according to investigators.
State Patrol recently put out statistics on 2023, indicating that El Paso County had the most road fatalities of any county in the state for the second consecutive year, with 74 fatalities.
