Suspect in Custer County triple homicide extradited to Colorado
A man arrested in New Mexico on suspicion of a triple homicide in Custer County was extradited to Colorado on Wednesday.
Hanme Kim Clark, 45, is a suspect in the shooting deaths of three people and attempted killing of a fourth in what an arrest affidavit obtained by The Gazette describes as a possible land dispute near the town of Westcliffe on Nov. 20.
The Custer County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that Clark had been booked into the Pueblo County jail on first-degree murder, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted assault with a deadly weapon.
Clark was arrested in New Mexico along with Nancy Rae Medina-Kochis, 50, who was extradited on Jan. 15 and placed in the El Paso County jail. The two were arrested by U.S. marshals and New Mexico state police during a “high-risk, felony stop” just outside Albuquerque on Nov. 21.
A release from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office said the two both “unsuccessfully fought” extradition back to Colorado. Charges Medina-Kochis might be facing are unclear. An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said on Jan. 17 that Medina-Kochis is booked in El Paso County on a “courtesy hold,” for the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
Pueblo County jail records also show that Clark is being held in Pueblo County on a courtesy hold.
Clark is being held on a $2 million bond, according to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
