Shooting leaves 2 injured in southeast Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police are investigating how two people ended up with gunshot wounds Tuesday night.

Colorado Springs police said that at 7:35 p.m. officers received reports of a shooting near the 3700 block of El Morro Road in southeast Colorado Springs.

Officers found one male who was suffering from a nonfatal gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby medical facility to be treated for his injuries, officials said.

While investigating the scene, officers were told that a second victim arrived at a local hospital, claiming to have been shot during the same incident.

Investigators on the scene discovered a vehicle believed to be associated with the shooting. Police say they contacted one man, a juvenile, and recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle.

“In the initial stages of the investigation, it may have appeared that there was a stolen vehicle involved, but that was later cleared up and the vehicle involved was not stolen,” CSPD spokesperson Ira Cronin said.

No arrests have been announced at this time.
