The Ice Castles party in Cripple Creek is rolling into February.

The Utah-based company recently announced the fantastical attraction extending ticket sales through February. A news release credited “freezing temperatures now in the forecast for the foreseeable future” — essential for the icy, color-changing walls, tunnels and slides to remain intact.

In its first year in the historic mining town west of Colorado Springs — Ice Castles was previously in Summit County — conditions have exceeded expectations.

Ice Castles’ top brass previously told The Gazette the hope was a run from mid-January to mid-February. To some pleasant surprise, builders were able to open Dec. 19. Now the aim is to sell tickets through next month — through Cripple Creek’s annual ice-carving festival, Ice Fest, Feb. 17-25.

From Feb. 13-25, tickets will only be available from 5 p.m.-close for now; daytime slots could open if weather allows.

Ice Castles’ website Wednesday showed many day and night slots selling out the first weekend of February. Most tickets for the remaining weekends in January were sold out, while most weekday slots were still posted.

Ice Castles is set to stay open Wednesday-Sunday. General admission (ages 12 and older) for Wednesday and Thursday is $21 or $16 for kids ages 4-11. Weekend tickets are $27 and $22.
