The year of flow | Intentional Living

Last year, my theme was “Use What You Have,” and it lived up to its theme.

Throughout 2023, I intentionally cooked the food I had on hand — first from my pantry and freezer and then from my garden and CSA share.

I used many of the skills I’ve acquired over the years, and I said yes to new opportunities.

I taught yoga and personally trained and coached clients. I wrote. I designed marketing materials. I edited podcasts. I gardened for myself, for clients, and for my son’s school. I connected people by creating groups and organizing outings. I ran and skied and hiked and camped. I participated in CONO’s Neighborhood University. I read 85 books!

In 2023, I began to open again to the many possibilities for my life. I stopped settling. I gave up parts of work and life that weren’t working. And I started to dream again.

In 2024, I want to keep moving toward those possibilities and dreams, allowing my path to “unfurl” as a good friend describes my spiraling path.

I want to be like the fiddlehead fern that is opening more and more and becoming more and more herself each year. The fiddlehead fern allows life to flow through her with her true nature as her guide.

And, so my word and intention for 2024 is “Flow” in hopes that I can tap into the fern’s way of being.

May I flow with my life as it unfurls at whatever pace and in whatever way it wants to.

May I spend more time in a precious flow state, where time seems to stop.

May I go with the flow of what life brings in each moment, day, and season.

May I allow my emotions and thoughts and ideas to flow freely.

May I let things flow in or out of my life as needed.

May I tune into the flow of my energy, noticing what brings me more energy, joy, and purpose. And, may I do more of those things.

May I make space for more laughter, fun, and play to naturally flow into my days.

May I be a conduit for the good and allow it to flow through me in service of others.

I could go on and on with flow.

But, mostly, I want to let go more and live more in ways that matter to me.

I want to discover what happens when I do less orchestrating. Because, I am not the general manager of the universe, and I don’t honestly want to be.

I want to give myself permission to want things and to not want things in my life, so I can tap into more flow and freedom.

I want to be open to the magic and mystery of life and to trust that where I am is the exact right place for me.
