Neighbors prevent arson suspects from fleeing scene in east Colorado Springs, police say

Several citizens restrained a man and woman who were trying to flee after they allegedly set fire to a home in east Colorado Springs on Saturday, police said.

Kenneth Williams and Alexandra Petsche could face arson charges, according to law enforcement.

Neighbors reported a house fire in the 1200 block of East Willamette Avenue at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday. When a suspect was seeing running toward a waiting car, other neighbors intervened and prevented two suspects from leaving the area, police said. Officers found an accelerant near the home.

The homeowner knew both suspects, officials said.

One suspect was taken to the El Paso County Jail. The other suspect was admitted to a local hospital for “an unrelated medical condition” and will be booked following treatment, police said.
