It’s time for the Colorado Old West tradition National Western Stock Show, kicking off at noon Thursday with 30 impressive Longhorn cattle being herded through downtown Denver near Union Station with cowboys and cowgirls on horseback, bands, floats and spectators in jeans and cowboy boots, too. Starting Saturday, days and nights of pro rodeo, 118 years of history, horse competitions, Mexican rodeo and stock show at 4655 Humboldt St. A nationally famous Western art show and great Western shopping, with all the Christmas lights on all around Denver as well. Absolutely excellent music at the elegant 25th annual United States International Duo Piano Competition at The Broadmoor International Center. A name familiar in Colorado Springs history, Alexander Film on North Nevada Avenue, is featured this weekend and recurring daily at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver. To distribute its movies, Alexander Film built an aircraft factory near Broadway and Hampden in Englewood. The 1929 Alexander Eaglerock is in the museum, 7711 E. After the holiday party times, it’s Dry January in Pueblo at The Ethos, a sober bar and community space, 615 E.
