Colorado Springs Weather: Patches of blowing snow expected on Christmas Eve

Weather in the Colorado Springs area is expected to be partially sunny with patches of blowing snow and a high near 31 according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

A “blustery” north wind will be present with a speed of 15-20 mph.

Multiple pieces of an upper-level low pressure system will continue to affect southeast and south-central Colorado through the day on Christmas Eve.

Snow, with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches an hour, will continue to be possible across the far eastern plains, northern El Paso County, the Rampart Range, the eastern mountains, Huerfano County, the Wet Mountain Valley, and the Raton Mesa through late morning. In addition, strong northerly winds will continue across much of the area and could produce localized hazardous travel conditions due to blowing snow and greatly reduced visibilities.

By Sunday afternoon, widespread shower activity will diminish, and any additional snowfall will likely be limited to the Palmer Divide, the Rampart Range, the eastern mountains and Raton Mesa. All activity should come an end later Sunday night.

Here is the full forecast from the National Weather Service:

Monday:  Sunny, with a high near 32. North wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tuesday:  Patchy blowing snow between 10am and 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph.
