9-1-1 authority upgrades with addition of new contact database

The El Paso-Teller County 9-1-1 Authority announced the implementation of a new contact database, Resident Connection, within the emergency notification system, Peak Alerts.

“This upgrade aims to enhance public safety by maximizing the reach of emergency alerts during critical situations that threaten life or property,” the 9-1-1 Authority said in a press release. “With the decline in residential landline subscriptions due to the widespread use of mobile devices, reaching citizens effectively has become a challenge.”

Currently, 23% of El Paso and Teller County citizens are signed up to receive emergency alerts through Peak Alerts, the release said.

“Resident Connection supplements the existing data in Peak Alerts to ensure that public safety officials can reach as many residents as possible during emergencies.

To further enhance the effectiveness of this system, residents in El Paso and Teller County are encouraged to create a profile at peakalerts.org.
