Aldean kicked off his career in 2005 with the single “Hicktown,” off his self-titled debut album. Since then, he’s had more Top 10 songs on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart than any other artist. Hits include “Why,” “She’s Country,” “Big Green Tractor,” “The Truth,” “Dirt Road Anthem” and “Take a Little Ride.”

His 11th album, “Highway Desperado,” is set to drop Nov. 3. Its lead single, “Try That in a Small Town,” was released in May and hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The video, released in July, sparked controversy when viewers accused Aldean of encouraging violence and racism with the song’s lyrics. Part of the video was performed in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tenn., the site of a 1927 lynching of a Black man.

Days after the video’s release, CMT (Country Music Television) confirmed it had removed it from the network.
