Barricaded suspect surrenders peacefully after standoff: Colorado Springs police
A suspect who was barricaded in a west Colorado Springs home on Sunday surrendered peacefully after an hours-long standoff, according to Gazette news partner KKTV.
The suspect, whose name was not released, could face charges of criminal trespassing and violating an order of protection, the news outlet said.
The incident began when a man with a protection order showed up at a house on Ironclad Lane, just off of Lower Gold Camp Road and 21st Street. Someone called police, and the man locked himself in the house as soon as he saw law enforcement pull up.
An officer told KKTV the standoff started just after 8 a.m. Sunday and was still active as of noon.
According to the news outlet, no one was in the house except the suspect. The suspect initially did not threaten law enforcement and did not indicate that he was armed, a CSPD officer said.
Police said the suspect surrendered on his own and was taken into custody. A shelter-in-place order was lifted just after 2 p.m.
This is a developing story.
