Driver arrested in Pueblo after killing 2 adults, 1 child in crash

A man was arrested Thursday over four weeks after killing three people, including a child, in a vehicle crash in Pueblo, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

On the night of Aug. 26, deputies responded to the 800 block of North Purcell Boulevard in Pueblo, where 32-year-old Kohen Garrett Kyle had reportedly been traveling in a southbound vehicle at over 100 mph when he crossed over the center line and struck a northbound vehicle head-on.

The northbound vehicle’s three occupants died on scene, officials said.

The two adults killed in the crash have been identified as 56-year-old Marie Quintana, of Aurora, and Jesus Guerrero-Lopez, 48, of Denver.

The 12-year-old victim’s name will not be released, but officials identified him as Quintana’s grandson.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, several witnesses reported seeing Kyle driving recklessly and passing other cars before the crash. Kyle was taken to a hospital following the crash to be treated.

Deputies on Thursday executed an arrest warrant and charged Kyle with three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of both reckless vehicular homicide and vehicular homicide while driving under the influence and one count of child abuse resulting in death, officials said.

Kyle is currently being held in the Pueblo County Jail on a $250,000 bond, online jail records show.
