National Pancake Day: 9 best places for pancakes around Colorado Springs

Trying to decide whether you go for a sweet or savory breakfast? Choose sweet on the 26th with light, fluffy pancakes as your star dish.
Although IHOP’s own National Pancake Day usually falls sometime in February, September 26 is also recognized as National Pancake Day.
According to votes by Gazette readers for the 2023 Best of the Springs magazine, these 9 restaurants offer the tastiest pancakes in the land (of Colorado Springs). See if you agree:
9. Susie’s Westside Café
Location: 1686 South 21st Street
An all-day breakfast joint west of downtown, Susie’s comes in at ninth for the best pancakes found in Colorado Springs. Get some hot, fresh coffee with those pancakes (they grind their coffee beans in-house, according to their Facebook page). They are open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
8. Bon Ton’s Cafe
Location: 2601 West Colorado Avenue
At Bon Ton’s, you can get one pancake, a stack of two or a stack of three. They also have a notably packed breakfast menu, including gluten-free options, omelettes, southwest specialties and more. Bon Ton’s is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

7. Mountain View Cafe & Catering
Location: 11425 Black Forest Road
Mountain View Cafe stands out on this pancake list because of their menu item “Brandon’s Family Style Pancake.” It’s a giant, pizza-sized pancake to share with a large group of family and friends. Look at their menu for other breakfast dishes. They are open daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
6. Omelets Etc.
Locations: 1337 Interquest Parkway; 11910 Tourmaline Drive Unit 100, Peyton; 1616 South 8th Street; 2850 South Academy Boulevard Suite 170
With several locations around the Colorado Springs area, residents all over can enjoy blueberry, banana nut, fruit and multi-grain pancakes at Omelets Etc. And plain ol’ pancakes, of course. Click here for their menu. Omelets Etc. is open at all locations daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

5. Mountain Shadows Restaurant
Location: 2223 West Colorado Avenue
Found in Old Colorado City, Mountain Shadows features the “Life is Good Pancake,” which consists of a large blueberry pancake topped with bananas, strawberries and whipped cream. Find the rest of their menu items here. Mountain Shadows is open every day of the week except Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

4. IHOP
Locations: Various locations around Colorado Springs
When we think of a pancake chain, we usually think of IHOP, of course. Even though there are no deals today (they save those for their own National Pancake Day), you can still head over to the nearest IHOP for their numerous pancake flavors including seasonal favorite pumpkin spice, New York cheesecake, strawberry banana and more.

. The InterQuest location will be the seventh local IHOP for the Perry family, an franchisee in the Springs.
3. Omelette Parlor
Location: 900 East Fillmore Street
Even though Omelette Parlor is obviously centered on the omelette, their pancakes rank third for Best of the Springs this year. They offer a “giant plate sized pancake dusted with powdered sugar” in addition to breakfast dishes that also come with a side of pancakes. Come try pumpkin pecan pie pancakes drizzled with vanilla cream cheese frosting and caramel sauce or other unique pancake stacks at Snooze.
