3 takeaways from Broncos’ 10-9 loss to Ravens
BALTIMORE — The Broncos lost their fourth in a row Sunday, blowing a fourth-quarter lead to the Ravens.
Denver led Baltimore 9-3 with a little under four minutes to play before the Ravens drove down the field and scored a touchdown with 31 seconds remaining to win 10-9.
Here are three takeaways from the game:
Wilson can’t spark offense
The Broncos offense struggled yet again Sunday, including quarterback Russell Wilson. Denver totaled only 235 yards of offense, with Wilson throwing for 189 yards and being sacked twice.
Denver scored only nine points, marking the third time this season they didn’t score a touchdown and the fifth time the Broncos have scored 10 or less points.
Simmons’ interceptions
Broncos safety Justin Simmons recorded his 23rd and 24th career interceptions Sunday against the Ravens. His first came against backup quarterback Tyler Huntley in the third quarter and his second was on a trick play throw by receiver James Porche II. It was Simmons’ second and third interceptions of the 2022 season, making Simmons the first Bronco to post multiple interceptions in each of his first seven seasons with Denver.
Both interceptions were key plays in the game, leading to a Denver field goal which made it 9-3 in the third quarter and stopping a good Ravens’ drive in the fourth quarter.
Jackson leaves with injury
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson left the game with a knee injury Sunday, after being sacked by outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper at the end of the first quarter. Jackson, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, finished the game 3 of 4 passing for 11 yards and had nine yards rushing. He was also sacked twice.
Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson, going 27 of 32 for 187 yards, one interception and one rushing touchdown.
