Tri-Lakes Women’s Club members tour Tri-Lakes Cares

MONUMENT • Members of the Tri-Lakes Women’s Club toured the offices of Tri-Lakes Cares last week to see some of the ways in which their grant awards have benefitted the resource center for the past several years.

During the visit, TLWC Co-President Cindy Beley was presented a certificate of appreciation by Tri-Lakes Cares Executive Director Haley Chapin, and Tri-Lakes Cares Development Specialist Christine Bucher.

Beley said, “The TLWC grant program’s purpose is to fund specific items that would be difficult for an organization to purchase without our assistance.”

For instance, Tri-Lakes Cares has utilized their grants for such things as a security door in their resource center, technology equipment to automate the inventory of food pantry donations, and materials to help them educate the community about the services that are available.

Tri-Lakes Cares is a community-based, volunteer supported organization whose purpose is to improve people’s lives through emergency, self-sufficiency, and relief programs. It has been meeting the needs of Northern El Paso County’s economically disadvantaged residents since November 1984.

TLWC is a nonprofit organization whose members reside within the boundaries of Lewis-Palmer School District 38, and since its inception in 1973 has donated over $1 million to local organizations.

Groups eligible to apply for a grant — a maximum of $2,000 — include nonprofits, public service organizations and public schools that serve the Tri-Lakes area. The application package includes instructions as well as other important qualifying information and will be available until March 15 on the club’s website, tlwc.net.
