Bear breaks into 8 vehicles in single night in Colorado

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding residents to keep their vehicle doors and windows locked and to remove all attractants after a string of vehicle break-ins.

A black bear broke into eight vehicles in the mountain town of Estes Park, which is on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park. The hungry bear went from car to car in search of finding some food, according to officials. All of the vehicles were unlocked at the time.

A report from KDVR says all of the vehicles were located along the Fall River Road corridor.

“Make it a routine to lock ALL your windows and doors for both your vehicle and home,” CPW said in a tweet on Saturday. “This is for your safety and for the lives of these amazing and resourceful creatures.”

In a similar incident, a mother bear recently destroyed the inside of a vehicle after getting trapped inside. Responding deputies were able to set the sow free as her two cubs watched from nearby.
