Possible record heat on Saturday as Denver prior to cool down
A potential record-high could be reached Saturday as temperatures will rise well into the mid-80’s for the first time since October.
The current Denver forecasts project Saturday’s high to hit 85 degrees, which is only two degrees lower than the daily record that was set in 1992.
“It could possibly tie or break the record,” said Treste Huse, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Boulder.
The last time Denver reached 85-degrees was on Oct. 10, 2020, and Saturday’s projection is well above the average high of 66, Huse said.
The temperature at Denver International Airport reached 79 degrees on Friday, but was expected to drop into the low 50’s overnight.
A slight cool down will begin on Sunday as highs are projected to be in the mid-60’s.
Along with the cool down, rain and possible thunderstorms could begin Sunday night and continue into Monday, Huse said.
