Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers fished a vehicle and its boat trailer out of a reservoir in southern Colorado.

“This was no April Fool’s prank,” the agency said on social media April 2. The rescue happened at the North Boat Ramp at Lake Pueblo State Park.

Parks rangers found a submerged sports utility vehicle with a boat trailer attached to it. Park Ranger Erin Steinman said the parking brake in the vehicle wasn’t set and was to blame for the accident. Rescue wasn’t as easy as calling a tow truck as the vehicle floated, officials said.

A dive team was called in to attach a cable to the submerged boat trailer in order for the tow truck to pull the vehicle back to land.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers remind visitors to use extreme caution around the water and boat ramps, and to wear life jackets.
