500-pound elk gets stuck in Colorado swimming pool
You never know where wildlife might turn up in Colorado.
A homeowner in Loveland got quite the surprise this weekend when they discovered a visitor taking a dip in their pool – a young elk.
Estimated to weigh about 500 pounds, wrangling the young elk out of the water was no simple task. It took several attempts before wildlife officers and firefighters were able to successfully pull the elk to safety.
“To get the elk out of this pool in Loveland, they got straps around her and then the wildlife officers and Loveland Fire Rescue Authority firefighters pulled it out,” stated Colorado Parks and Wildlife in a tweet.
While uninjured, the elk appeared to be exhausted. She took a little time to recover before running off into the wilderness.
