The annual AdAmAn hiking club’s climb up Pikes Peak on New Year’s Eve looked a little different this year due to COVID-19 safety precautions, switching up a tradition that is nearly 100 years old, and turning a normally two-day trip into a single-day trek. Instead of one large group of hikers making a two day trip, with a layover night at the Barr Camp cabin, there were two smaller groups of hikers taking different one-day routes up to the summit. The first group of hikers left the Barr Trail trailhead shortly after 5:15 a.m., and the second group of hikers departed from the Glen Cove parking area at 9:30 a.m.
