New ‘crown jewel’ open space ready for explorers

Afternoon clouds roll over some of the red rock formations on June 20, 2018, at the 2,038-acre Sandstone Ranch, an open space recently announced by Douglas County as open to hikers, cyclists and equestrians. It has been anticipated since 2017, when the county's sales tax-supported fund for preserving recreation land came through on the acquisition. Along a 12-mile, non-motorized trail, visitors can explore the colorful expanse west of Larkspur along Colorado 105.
