Wednesday’s prep roundup: Palmer Ridge softball edges Lewis-Palmer in battle of Monument

Palmer Ridge 17, Lewis-Palmer 4 (5 innings)

At Lewis-Palmer: Sara Lynch helped the Bears snap a four-game skid with a three-hit, four-RBI performance against Monument rival Lewis-Palmer.

Lynch also tossed a three-hitter and struck out three batters along the way. Rain Van Winkle and Kourtni Wilmes knocked in two runs each for Palmer Ridge (8-13, 2-5 5A/4A PPAC).

Lewis-Palmer is 5-17 and 1-6 in the PPAC.

Cheyenne Mountain 15, Air Academy 8

At Air Academy: A nine-inning second inning was all Cheyenne Mountain needed to clinch a 5A/4A PPAC win over Air Academy, but the Indians kept scoring.

Mikaela McCarson and Grace Gustafson had four RBIs each for the Indians (12-9, 5-2) and Mia Hedman knocked two across. Katelyn Ralston also had a solo home run and had a fine day in the circle, striking out 12 batters through her seven-inning performance.

Sheridan Wayne and Angela Smith led the Kadets (9-11, 4-3) with three RBIs each.

Rampart 12, Coronado 1 (5 innings)

At Coronado: Rampart earned its fifth straight win with an easy 5A CSML victory over Coronado.

Rampart sophomore Tarin Thomas had a three-RBI single to lead the Rams (14-6, 9-1), while Kayla Wells and Brianna Jennings had two hits and two RBIs each.

Coronado falls to 9-11 and 4-7 in league play.

Falcon 18, Sand Creek 17

At Sand Creek: Seven Falcon players had RBIs in a close 5A/4A PPAC win over Sand Creek as the Falcons worked to eliminate a six-run deficit after the third inning.

Sand Creek scored 13 runs in the bottom of the third, but Falcon continued to chip away, led by Sam Hermosio who had three RBIs. Cheyenne Simpson, Addison Bohenna and Madi Robertson had two RBIs each for the Falcons (11-12, 3-4).

Sand Creek falls to 4-19 and is winless in league play.

Pine Creek 17, Doherty 0 (4 innings)

At Doherty: Three five-run innings put a pin in a 5A CSML victory for Pine Creek, which remains the only undefeated team in the league.

The Eagles racked up 20 hits in four innings with seven batters registering two or more hits. Pine Creek (10-8, 8-0) was led by Sarah Gardner, Jennedy Johnson and Gerilyn Martinez, who had three RBIs each. Leah Passafiume threw a four-inning three-hitter with one strikeout.

Delaine Baker, Mariana Morales and Che’Paris Mobley had Doherty’s only hits.

The Spartans are 10-10 and 6-4 in the CSML.

FIELD HOCKEY

Denver East 1, Palmer Ridge 1

At Palmer Ridge: Palmer Ridge held a one-goal lead heading into the second half, but Denver East’s Maddie Darre scored in the final minutes to tie the game, which would ultimately end in a stalemate.

Palmer Ridge is 8-1-2.

Regis Jesuit 5, Liberty 0

At Liberty: Haley Edge had 17 saves in the cage for Liberty as the Lancers fell to 2-7-1.
