An article on A1 of The Gazette’s June 21 edition should have stated that perfluorinated compounds might be more toxic than an Environmental Protection Agency health advisory suggests. Also, the reference dose used by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry referred to the smallest amount someone can ingest each day for a year without being harmed, a much shorter time frame than considered under the EPA’s reference dose.
