Severe Thunderstorm Warning in North El Paso County Sunday afternoon

Update 3:58 p.m.

Hail on Pike’s Peak almost appears to look like snow, the mountain is lightly covered in white.

“We don’t think it was  snow,” said Randy Gray of the National Weather Service in Pueblo. “Storms may have produced light hail.”

There have been reports of a power outage in the area of Garden of the Gods. Crews are working at the scene.

Update 2:50 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Colorado Springs, Fountain and Security until 3:15 p.m. Sunday.

Also, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued until 9 p.m. for much of southeastern Colorado.

Update 1:45 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning continues for the Calhan area and east toward Rama until 2:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Update 12:54 p.m.:

The National Weather Service in Pueblo tweeted a severe thunderstorm warning for north El Paso County, including Monument, Black Forest and the Peyton areas Sunday afternoon. There is currently hail in some parts of the area.

The severe thunderstorm warning is issued until 1:30 p.m.

It could be a stormy Sunday in Colorado Springs. The day is likely to be cloudy and breezy.

Chances of afternoon thunderstorms, mostly between 3 and 4 p.m., are 30 percent, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

The storms may be severe. Colorado Springs is once again in danger of large hail and damaging winds with gusts as high as 30 mph, says the National Weather Service.

Monday should be drier and warmer, and the week’s temperatures could get up to the 90s and 100s, said Gazette news partner KKTV.
