Cripple Creek-Victor superintendent requests termination-for-cause hearing
Cripple Creek-Victor School District RE-1 Superintendent Les Lindauer, who was suspended from his position last month pending an internal investigation, has requested a termination-for-cause hearing, board President Timothy Braun said Friday.
Attorneys from both sides are working to set a hearing, which is allowed under his employment contract, likely before a retired judge in Colorado Springs, Braun said.
The judge will “make a recommendation” after weighing the board’s reasoning and evidence as to why members believe Lindauer should be fired, in addition to Lindauer’s responses and argument to the contrary.
The board reportedly has compiled 12 violations of school district policies against Lindauer.
The board won’t take action on the matter at Monday’s monthly meeting, Braun said.
Payment for acting superintendent Tory Richey, who has been principal of the Cripple Creek-Victor Junior-Senior High School, will be determined Monday.
A board seat opening for a member representing the city of Cripple Creek will be formally announced, following the resignation of Tana Rice, who recently moved out of the district.
The board also will present new boundaries for member representation, following voter approval last November for more general representation. The new rules stipulate one board member living in Cripple Creek, one in Victor and three at-large seats. Up to this point, each of five board seats had specific geographic requirements.
