2 more Colorado Springs-area football players invited to Blue-Grey National Super Combine
Area high school players Gavin Herberg, Isaiah Talapu and Spencer Peterson are gearing up for the intensive two-day Blue-Grey National Super Combine football camp at the Foothills Sports Arena in Denver on July 8.
Invitees and their family will gather at the Doubletree Denver–Stapleton North hotel on the night of the eighth to kick off the camp with an evening banquet including veteran NFL camp coaches and Blue-Grey football personnel. In the following two days, players will report to the arena for four-hour training and workout sessions. About 80-100 players will attend the Denver Super Combine.
Gavin Herberg
Pine Creek’s rising junior and presumed next quarterback was selected to this Super Combine because of his 2016 season performance as well as his success in the previous regional combine April 15 in Denver.

Spencer Peterson
Six-foot, 190-pound rising junior Spencer Peterson also plays for Pine Creek, but as a running back or fullback. Peterson became a standout this past season, playing varsity and junior varsity, finishing the year with 600 yards and 12 touchdowns for the JV team. In one game he had 168 yards and two touchdowns.
“It’s a great honor to be a part of such a prestigious football program as Pine Creek’s,” Peterson said. “Coach (Todd) Miller and his coaching staff recognize talent and win championships. Carrying on the legacy of phenomenal athletes is an extraordinary experience.”
Recently Peterson was invited to a UCLA combine, where he caught the eye of UCLA’s running back coach, Deshaun Foster, by running the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds and having a 34-inch vertical jump.
Isaiah Talapu
Wide receiver Isaiah Talapu was also a contributor to Pine Creek, but will be transferring to Vista Ridge for his junior and senior years. He made the varsity roster in his sophomore year at Pine Creek, but didn’t get too much playing time. He was selected to the Super Combine because of his prior athletic performance. This 5-11 player ran the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds at the regional combine two months ago.
If these Colorado natives do well in their Super Combine, they could be invited to either the All American Bowl in Dallas in mid-December or the All American Bowl in Tampa in mid-January. This would be the last round of the Blue-Grey Football series.
