The road woes continued for the Colorado Springs Switchbacks on Saturday at Las Vegas Lights, as Steve Trittschuh’s side lost a fourth straight league game away from Weidner Field, this one by a 4-1 scoreline.

It marked the first time this season Trittschuch’s bunch has conceded more than two goals in a single game.

Vegas, which entered with a seven-game USL winless spell,  scored the first three goals, including Freddy Adu and Sammy Ochoa’s first scores of the season, before Colorado Springs left back Josh Suggs got one back in the 77th minute.

Minutes after Suggs made it a two-goal game, Marty Maybin was shown a straight red card after getting into it with a Lights defender just moments after coming on as a substitute.

Carlos Alvarez was the first to beat Colorado Springs keeper Steward Ceus when he curled a ball inside the far post from distance. Ceus received some treatment to his left hand following the play but stayed on for the remainder.

The Lights took the 1-0 advantage to the break and quickly added to it when Freddy Adu scored his first goal for a U.S. professional team in six years, flicking a long throw-in past Ceus in the 47th minute.

Ochoa added a third before Suggs pounced on a free ball in the box and stabbed it past the Las Vegas keeper.

With the Switchbacks down a man, Matt Thomas secured the Lights’ first league win since March 31 with a goal in stoppage time.

The Switchbacks return to Weidner Field where they’ve won their last two USL matches on Saturday to host Swope Park Rangers.
