(The denver Gazette file)Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine Tour – This is America’s only vertical shaft gold mining tour and is named after the first woman who struck gold in Colorado. It drops its visitors 1,000 feet below ground. Ride the underground locomotive and see gold in its raw state before it’s extracted. The tour provides a complete Colorado mining experience! (Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine)7. Country Boy Mine Located in Breckenridge, this is one of the most famous gold mines in the area. Historically restored, the mine site is open for exploration and education with family-friendly tours. While you’re there, be sure to slide down the 55-foot ore chute and pan for gold! (outtherecolorado.com)2. Argo Mill The Argo Mill is a truly iconic structure having been featured in several movies and has been placed on the National Historic Register. Every year students from all 50 states come and visit the mill and have 5 stories to explore, including a museum on the first floor.
