Teller County’s clerk of court was placed on paid administrative leave this week for unspecified reasons.

Samuel Tygret was suspended Monday, said 4th Judicial District Judge William Bain. Personnel rules prevent the release of further details, Bain said.

Clerks are keepers of records for criminal, civil and child dependency and neglect actions. They process and log official actions and serve as a records repository for the public. Teller and El Paso counties are part of the 4th Judicial District. The clerk’s office is on the top floor of the Teller County Courthouse, 101 W. Bennett Ave., in Cripple Creek.

Court administrators from Colorado Springs have stepped in to supervise the office in Tygret’s absence, Bain said.

Tygret was hired as a clerk in 2008 and promoted to supervisory positions in August 2010 and again in October 2015. He makes $77,256 per year, according to the Colorado Judicial Branch.
