Bemidji State scored three third-period goals for a 4-1 win over No. 20 Air Force (3-1-1) in a nonconference game Friday night in Bemidji, Minn.

Early in the third period, the Beavers’ Kyle Bauman scored at 2:39 for a 2-1 lead. Teammate Myles Fitzgerald then took the puck down the left wing, skated around a Falcons defenseman and scored at 7:13. Bauman’s second of the game came shorthanded with 4:12 left to play.

Air Force scored first. Jordan Himley’s shot was saved, but Matt Serratore put back the rebound for his first goal of the season.

The Bemidji native, playing for his uncle, Frank, and against his father, Tom, the Bemidji State coach, gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead at 16:50 of the first.

The Beavers (2-0-1) tied the game early on the second when Adam Brady took a shot from a sharp angle at the bottom of the left circle at 2:45.

Bemidji State outshot Air Force, 29-16, including an 11-3 advantage in the third. Billy Christopoulos made 22 saves for the Falcons.

Air Force and Bemidji State conclude the two-game series on Saturday night at the Sanford Center.
