Notorious Colorado serial killer charged in new murder and escape attempt

Serial killer Scott Kimball has been arrested for investigation of solicitation to commit first-degree murder and attempted escape.

An arrest warrant was filed Tuesday by the FBI against Kimball, who is being held in Sterling Correctional Facility.

Kimball, 51, allegedly plotted the escape and murder between May 6 and Sept. 22 while he was incarcerated in Sterling, according to Logan County District Court documents.

Kimball, an FBI informant-turned-serial-killer, is serving a 70-year sentence for four murders committed after he was released from federal prison in December 2002 to act as an FBI informant. He’s also serving 48 years for fraud and 70 months on a federal gun charge.
