Saturday’s prep roundup: Fountain-Fort Carson, CSCS boys’ soccer teams score big wins
BOYS’ SOCCER
Liberty 2, Gateway 0
Aurora Public Schools Stadium: Brandon Shaughnessy recorded a score and assisted on a goal by Dawson Calloway to lift the Lancers to the nonconference shutout win.
Liberty (6-3-1 overall) knocked in a goal in each half as goalkeeper Luke Price held down the defense with eight saves.
Gateway fell to 6-3-2.
Grandview 4, Doherty 0
At Garry Berry Stadium: The Spartans allowed two goals apiece in each half in the nonconference game to drop to 3-6-1 overall.
Grandview moved up to 7-2.
Fountain-Fort Carson 8, Pueblo Central 1
At F-FC: The Trojans went on the offensive and scored eight goals to earn their first win in five games. It was enough to improve to 3-7-1 overall.
Pueblo Central remains winless at 0-9.
Colorado Springs Christian School 9, Denver Christian 0
At Denver Christian: The Lions improved to 7-2 overall after putting up six goals in the first half and another three scores after halftime in the nonconference game.
Denver fell to 3-6.
VOLLEYBALL
Sand Creek 2, Yuma 0
At Fort Lupton: The Indians (13-1) easily got past the Scorpions in the Fort Lupton Tournament match, winning 25-8, 25-8.
Sand Creek fell to 4-11 overall.
Holy Family 3, Cheyenne Mountain 0
At Holy Family: The Indians made it close in the final two sets but ultimately fell 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 in the nonconference match.
The loss puts Cheyenne Mountain at 3-8 overall, while Holy Family extended its record to 13-2.
