Brush fire burns in Douglas County; pre-evacuation notice canceled
More than 3,000 homes were briefly put on pre-evacuation notice Friday night after a brush fire streaming a wide plume of white smoke broke out in Douglas County.
Fire officials canceled the pre-evacuation notices shortly after 8:30 p.m.
The fire, which started around 6 p.m., is near the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Facility at 6001 Ron King Trail, according to the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. The smoke plume is visible from parts of Santa Fe Drive and C-470.
The training center includes a firing range. The cause of the fire has not been released.
