Justin Simmons replaces David Bruton as immediate impact player

Running through coverages and recalling responsibilities, Justin Simmons began to show off his intelligence from day one as a new Broncos’ new safety.

Defensive backs coach Joe Woods said the Broncos were biting their nails in the war room, hoping Simmons would fall to them at No. 98. Once he did, it was an uplifting feeling.

Simmons was preparing to fall asleep and to be drafted on day three.

“When I got the call, I was just praying I was saying the right words so I wouldn’t mess anything up,” Simmons said.
