Gov. Hickenlooper, 11 GOP governors urge Senate to reject repeal-only vote
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper joined his Republican counterparts Tuesday — including Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval — in urging the U.S. Senate not to repeal Obamacare without a replacement.
“Congress should work to make health insurance more affordable by controlling costs and stabilizing the market, and we are pleased to see a growing number of senators stand up for this approach,” Hickenlooper and 10 other governors said in a written statement. “The Senate should immediately reject efforts to ‘repeal’ the current system and replace sometime later.”
The group said such an approach could leave millions of Americans without health care coverage and that “the best next step is for both parties to come together and do what we can all agree on: fix our unstable insurance markets.”
