Suspect arrested after Red Rocks Amphitheatre parking lot crash, escape attempt

A driver who struck and injured two female pedestrians, then crashed into as many as nine parked cars following a Red Rocks concert, was rescued after he ran, tumbled and rolled 300 feet down a steep ravine, authorities say.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with various injuries, but the two women who were struck were not seriously hurt, said John White, Denver police spokesman.

Denver police say the pedestrian collision happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot after a concert featuring Pink Martini with The Colorado Symphony and special guest Rufus Wainwright at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Red Rocks hosts concerts Friday, Saturday and Sunday by the Avett Brothers.
