Colorado Springs’ Jeremy Kimball claims 1st UFC win

A huge right hand and then a standing hammer fist from Jeremy Kimball was the start of the 26-year-old’s first win in the UFC at UFC Fight Night 112 in Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Kimball defended a takedown attempt from Josh Stansbury then seconds later landed a right followed by a huge right fist to the top of Stansbury’s head that dropped Stansbury.

Kimball (15-6) stood over Stansbury (8-4 on Sherdog.com) and rained down punches.

Mario Yamasaki finally stopped it at 1:21 of the first round after Campbell landed a dozen punches on the ground.

“This is huge,” Kimball told the UFC after the win. “… This is the Grizzly (Kimball’s nickname), OKC, this is the Grizzly, Baby.”

Kimball knew when he hurt Stansbury.

“Straight right hurt him,” Kimball told the UFC. “I know when people are hurt, so I had to go for the kill.”

The Colorado Springs mixed martial artist and former Doherty High School wrestler moves to 1-1 in the UFC.

Kimball was stopped in the first round (punches) by Marcos Rogerio de Lima in his UFC debut in January, a fight Kimball took on short notice.

The bout was the first fight of the night and available to watch only via the UFC’s subscription-based “Fight Pass” website.
