14 people have died at Colorado ski resorts this 2016-2017 season
Fourteen people have died while skiing or riding at Colorado ski resortsduring the 2016-2017 season, which is wrapping up.
Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area remain open for operations, with Loveland planning to shut down on May 7 and A-Basin slated to shutter on June 4.
The Summit Daily reports this season has been the deadliest in Colorado since 22 people died on the state’s slopes in the 2011-2012 winter. Breckenridge Ski Resort had the most ski deaths of any Colorado resort this season, with five. Second was Loveland, which had two.
The oldest person to die while skiing on Colorado’s slopes this season was 59-year-old Kevin Edwards, of Boulder, who passed away at Loveland on April 28. His death is also the latest in the state this season.
