At Manitou Springs: The Mustangs scored three times in the second half to defeat their rivals in a matchup of two of the best 3A teams in the state.

Brooklyn Mack had two goals and a pair of assists to lead Pikes Peak region 3A No. 1 Manitou Springs (10-1), and Ailsa Connors and Olivia McKenna each scored. Bridget Bodor and Caileen Sienknecht each had an assist.

Cassidy Sorensen and Faith Heery each scored for St. Mary’s (8-3).

Rampart 7, Fountain-Fort Carson 0

At D-20 Stadium: The Rams showed their balance, getting goals from seven players. Tianna Phillips-Marlar, Ashleigh Decker and Ella Cobbs all scored a goal and added an assist for 5A No. 1 Rampart. Katlyn Rosenbaum got the shutout in net for the Rams (10-2, 4-0 5A Metro).

Doherty 7, Vista Ridge 1

At Vista Ridge: Jaelyn Brown and Mykiaa Minniss each scored two goals for Doherty, and Chaylaa Minniss, Taylor Fortune and Taylor Cosgrove each added a score for the 5A No. 3 Spartans (5-5).

Rocky Mountain 4, Pine Creek 1

At D-20 Stadium: Jade Gosar had a hat trick for Rocky Mountain, which broke a 1-1 halftime tie with three scores in the second half.

5A No. 2 Pine Creek (7-3) has lost three of its past four.

Fountain Valley 6, Vanguard 2

At Fountain Valley: Megan Masters tallied a hat trick and added two assists for the Danes, who scored three times in each half.

McKenna Monk had one score and three assists for Fountain Valley (6-3) and Morgan Lewis and Isabella Montoya each added a goal for the Danes.

Pueblo South 10, Palmer 0

At Dutch Clark Stadium: The 4A Colts scored five times in each half to make quick work of the 5A Terrors (2-9-1).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Cheyenne Mountain Invitational

At Cheyenne Mountain: The 4A Indians and 5A Cherry Creek each scored 34 points to split the team win.

Cheyenne Mountain No. 1 singles Morgan Hall defeated Cherry Creek’s Micha Handler 7-6, 6-3 in the finals, while the Indians’ No. 3 Claire Dibble also won a singles title.

Cheyenne Mountain took three of four doubles titles, led by No. 1 doubles Ally Arenson and Casey Ahrendsen, who defeated Air Academy’s Ally Reeder and Lyla Hollis in the finals.

BASEBALL

Palmer 5, Fountain-Fort Carson 4

At F-FC: Palmer scored five runs in the first four innings to build a 5-1 lead, and then hung on late for the upset win.

Trevor Kramer went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the 5A No. 2 Trojans (8-6, 5-2 5A Metro), and Will Shelton and Gavin Green each contributed two hits and an RBI.

Cheyenne Mountain 12, Sand Creek 2

At Cheyenne Mountain: The 4A No. 1 Indians scored at least once in each of the five innings, including a four-run first, to end this one after five.

Chase McCleary went 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs for Cheyenne Mountain, and Ryan Schneider was 2 for 2 with an RBI and three runs scored. Everett Dwyer pitched all five innings for the Indians (13-1, 8-1 4A/5A Pikes Peak), giving up two earned runs and striking out two.

At Buena Vista: Sean Whalen was the star in a game one win for the 3A No. 1 Mustangs, pitching a complete-game three-hitter and striking out eight, while also driving in two runs.

In game two, Buena Vista scored eight times in the fourth inning and then held on for the split. Whalen had another pair of RBIs in the second game, as did Hunter Zentz and Davyn Adamscheck for Manitou Springs (10-3, 5-1 3A Tri-Peaks West). The Mustangs still sit atop the league standings.

St. Mary’s 2, La Junta 1

At Grace Center: The 3A No. 3 Pirates seized control of second in the 3A Tri-Peaks East with the sweep. St. Mary’s (8-6, 4-2) got a pair of gems from starting pitchers Jacob Brummel and Sascha Obermayer. Brummel tossed a complete-game three-hitter with seven strikeouts in game one, and Obermayer pitched a complete-game four-hitter with three strikeouts in the second game.

Josh White drove in both St. Mary’s runs in game one, and TJ English had two RBIs in the second game.

CSCS 16, Florence 6

CSCS 5, Florence 4

At CSCS: Quinn Stowell led the way for the Lions’ offense in the two-game sweep, going 3 for 7 with five RBIs, three doubles, a home run and two runs. Luke Smith went 4 for 6 with four RBIs and two runs scored for CSCS (3-11, 2-2 3A Tri-Peaks West), and Justin Johnston contributed four hits, three RBIs and four runs scored.
