Doherty 64, Liberty 40

At Doherty: Aubriana Noti had her 15th double-double of the season – 18 points and 14 rebounds – as Doherty (16-1, 7-0 5A Colorado Springs Metro League) beat Liberty (10-7, 4-3) to hold its lead in league.

The Spartans take on Coronado (3-14, 0-6) Tuesday before they face Pine Creek (11-5, 4-1) in a showdown of the league’s top two teams Thursday. Doherty needed overtime to beat the Eagles 56-50 on Jan. 10.

“The last game went into overtime and Pine Creek lost their mindset a little bit,” Noti said. “(This game) is definitely a top priority.”

Phylicia Bacon had seven points for Liberty.

Lamar 49, Manitou Springs 46

At Manitou Springs: Shelby Megyeri was held scoreless in the fourth quarter as Manitou Springs (7-7, 4-3 3A/2A Tri-Peaks) fell to Lamar (13-1, 6-1).

Megyeri finished with 14 points for the Mustangs, who led 38-36 heading into the fourth.

Brecken Payne tied the game at 46-46 with 2:20 remaining. She then hit a free throw to give the Savages the lead for good.

Megyeri missed a game-tying 3 with less than 15 seconds remaining.

Sand Creek 43, Rampart 30

At Sand Creek: Jalen Davis scored 19 as Sand Creek (8-9) beat Rampart (6-10) for its fourth straight win.

The Scorpions allowed just six points through the second and third quarter en route to a 33-18 lead. They improved to 2-4 at home.

Bailey Torres led the Rams with 11 points, while Madi Wriedt had 10.

ECA 48, Dolores Huerta 19

At Dolores Huerta: Maggie Kirkpatrick had 14 points and Amanda Bost added 10 as ECA (10-2, 2A Black Forest 3-1) beat Dolores Huerta (5-7, 0-3) to stay in the hunt for a league title.

Ellicott (8-3, 4-0) and Simla (9-2, 3-0) lead in the standings followed by the Eagles.

St. Mary’s 75, Vanguard 30

At Vanguard: Olivia Florek scored 24 and Makenna Bodette added 18 points as St. Mary’s (13-0, 7-0 3A/2A Tri-Peaks) beat Vanguard (1-12, 0-8) to stay undefeated.

The Pirates led 49-12 at halftime on their way to a 6-0 mark on the road. They have led at the half in every game this season.

Bre Swann led the Coursers with 11 points.

CSCS 84, Buena Vista 22

At CSCS: Rachel Ingram scored 27 and Megan Engesser added 21 as CSCS (13-2, 7-1 3A/2A Tri-Peaks) beat Buena Vista (3-7, 1-4) for its seventh win in eight games.

The Lions lost to Lamar 43-37 on Friday.

Madison Mackie added 15 points and Katie McGrath had 10 for CSCS.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Lewis-Palmer 67, Erie 46

At L-P: Billy Cook scored 12 and Eli Burkett added 11 points as Lewis-Palmer (13-4) beat Erie (9-8) for its ninth straight win.

The Rangers squeaked by Palmer Ridge 53-51 Wednesday before beating Sand Creek and CU-commit D’shawn Schwartz 76-62 on Friday. They face Vista Ridge and Wyoming-commit Hunter Maldonado on Wednesday.

Luke Loy led Erie with 10 points.

Vanguard 60, St. Mary’s 58

At Vanguard: The Coursers (11-3, 6-1 3A Tri-Peaks) are 3-0 in games decided by two points or less as they beat St. Mary’s (2-11, 1-5) for their fourth straight win.

Draven Hackley had 18 points for the Pirates, while Gabe Calhoun added 11.

CSCS 61, Buena Vista 28

At CSCS: Noah Hopkins scored 20 and Justin Engesser added 19 points as CSCS (13-2, 7-0 3A Tri-Peaks) beat Buena Vista (7-4, 4-2) for its fifth straight win.

Zach Wismer added eight points for the Lions, and Jared Burbidge had six.

Discovery Canyon 55, TCA 52

At TCA: Zach Anderson scored 15 and Seth Clawson added 14 points and 10 rebounds as Discovery Canyon (7-10) rallied to beat TCA (7-9).

Britt Logan added nine points for the Thunder, who outscored the Titans 19-9 in the fourth quarter for their second straight win.

The Titans have lost five of six.

Manitou Springs 68, Lamar 37

At Manitou Springs: Lucas Rodholm and Cole Sienknecht each scored 16 as Manitou Springs (13-1, 5-1 3A Tri-Peaks) beat Lamar (5-8, 1-5).

The Mustangs have won two straight since their 40-38 loss to CSCS on Tuesday.

Jared Keul added 13 points for Manitou Springs. The Mustangs went 12 of 14 from the free-throw line.

ECA  61, Dolores Huerta 55

At Dolores Huerta: Sam Perkett scored a season-high 24 points as ECA (6-6, 2-2 2A Black Forest) beat Dolores Huerta (9-5, 3-3) for its fourth straight win.

Cameron Rawlings had 10 points for the Eagles, Justin Holt had nine and Andrew Cook added eight.

WRESTLING

Brighton Invitational

At Brighton: Coronado’s Nicholas Cote (170) and Jimmy Weaver (182) won individual titles as the Cougars took seventh with 99.5 points.

Brighton won the 10-team tournament with 232 points.

Cote had a pin of 1:01 in the finals, while Weaver’s came at 1:05.

Discovery Canyon Duals

At Discovery Canyon: The Thunder beat Cherry Creek, Montrose, Northridge and Pueblo Central to win the dual tournament.

Jared Turner (138) had two pins and a technical fall, while Patrick Allis (106) had a pin and a tech fall.

HOCKEY

Cheyenne Mountain 5, Columbine 2

At Honnen: Micah McInnis and Brian Suslow each had two goals as Cheyenne Mountain (10-4-1) beat Columbine (2-8-1).

Dakota Henn also scored for the Indians, and Ryan McCann stopped 19 shots.

McInnis scored twice as the Indians built a 4-0 lead by the 10:43 mark of the second period. Suslow got his second 8:41 into the third to make it 5-1.

Liberty 4, Chatfield 2

At Edge-East: Chase Johnson had a goal and two assists, Hunter Michaud stopped 18 shots and Liberty (7-6) beat Chatfield (1-10-1) for its fifth win in six games

Kyle Husted, Connor McIlhany and Mikey Wilson also scored for the Lancers, who outshot the Chargers 32-21.

Andrew Pray made 28 saves for Chatfield.

Monarch 6, Lewis-Palmer 0

At Sports Stable: Sal Pisciola had two goals and Logan Gorbitz stopped 14 shots as Monarch (9-3) shut out L-P (4-8).

The Rangers were outshot 37-14.

Crested Butte 7, Rampart 3

At Sertich: James Adams had two goals and Chase Allen made 32 saves as Rampart (3-10) lost to Crested Butte (6-3).

Jonathan Musser also scored for the Rams.
