This week’s Colorado College hockey practices will focus on special teams since both the power play (1 for 20) and the penalty kill (14 for 18) struggled during the current four-game losing streak.

“Power play obviously is going to be the big one,” Tigers coach Mike Haviland said following Monday’s practice. “Our special teams were really good during the stretch when we were winning but right now both of them have to be better. It’s as simple as that. They are going to be the difference between winning and losing hockey games.”

The last-place Tigers took Tuesday off to rest in hopes that will give them fresh legs against No. 12 North Dakota this weekend.

“Some of our high(-end) guys are playing a lot of hockey,” Haviland said. “We thought it would be good to get some time away, recharge and have two days to get after it.”
