For the second time in three seasons, Lewis-Palmer has a Gatorade Colorado Volleyball Player of the Year.
Michaela Putnicki was named this season’s recipient on Tuesday.
Putnicki, a senior, helped the Rangers run the table, going 29-0 on its way to the program’s third title in four seasons. She put down 309 kills, had 27 aces, recorded 29 total blocks (23 solo) and notched 222 digs.
She registered 15 kills in the state championship match.
The award is given to a player for “not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field,” the press release reads.
The Rangers dropped just four sets all season.
Putnicki joins former teammate Alexa Smith, who received the honor for the 2014-15 season. Smith, who now plays at Colorado, went on to also be recognized as the national Gatorade Player of the Year for volleyball.
