WASHINGTON — Vice President-elect Mike Pence is viewed less favorably than other recent incoming vice presidents, according to a Pew Research Center survey released Thursday.

About 4 in 10 surveyed Nov. 30-Dec. 5 had a positive opinion of Pence compared to about 6 in 10 who had favorable views of Joe Biden, Dick Cheney and Al Gore before they took office.

Just over half — 54 percent — said Pence is qualified to be president if something happens to Donald Trump.

Half of all respondents said Pence will have the right amount of influence within the Trump administration. That’s less than the 58 percent who said the same of Cheney but about the same who thought that of Gore.
