Mike Coffman calls for Donald Trump to “step aside” after candidate’s crude remarks on women

U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman on Friday called for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump to “step aside” from his run for the White House.

“For the good of the country, and to give the Republicans a chance of defeating Hillary Clinton, Mr. Trump should step aside,” Coffman said in a statement emailed by his campaign to The Denver Post Friday night. “His defeat at this point seems almost certain and four years of Hillary Clinton is not what is best for this country.”

Coffman’s statement comes on the heels of a story The Washington Post broke Friday afternoon about a video it obtained capturing the controversial billionaire businessman making crudely sexual statements about women while preparing for a 2005 appearance on the “Access Hollywood” television show.
