At Liberty: Jordan Cordrey took the start and ran with it.

Essentially pitching in relief in a game that got through one inning Aug. 25 before being postponed until Monday, Cordrey held Pine Creek to four hits over the final six innings, striking out nine.

“She’s done a great job, stepped up as senior,” coach Astrid McGill said.

The Pikes Peak region 5A No. 2 Lancers (8-7, 6-1 5A Colorado Springs Metro League) are now in control of the league after their sweep of the Eagles. They also beat Pine Creek 9-3 last week. They get Fountain-Fort Carson, which beat the Lancers earlier, on Tuesday.

The Eagles scored both runs in the first. Allie Helton homered and Denise Villalba scored on a passed ball.
