Monday’s prep roundup: Discovery Canyon tops Air Academy in softball

SOFTBALL

Discovery Canyon 5, Air Academy 1

At Discovery Canyon: In a battle of two of the top teams in the city, Corah Price shut down a potent Kadets lineup, pitching a complete game and giving up one run on six hits and striking out six.

Madison McCoy and Sami Edwards each had a double and two RBIs to lead the 4A/3A No. 1 Thunder (6-4, 2-0 5A/4A Pikes Peak), which has won three of its past four.

4A/3A No. 2 Air Academy (7-4, 1-1) only had eight base runners, and committed two errors.

Falcon 16, Palmer Ridge 6

At Falcon: Falcon led 5-3 after three innings, and blew the game open with a seven-run fourth and a four-run fifth.

Savanna Goodin led the way for Falcon (6-4, 2-0 5A/4A Pikes Peak) with a home run, four RBIs and two runs. Madi Robertson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Jessica Rogers had a home run and drove in two.

4A/3A No. 3 Palmer Ridge falls to 6-4 and 0-2 in conference play.

St. Mary’s 26, Mitchell 6

At Mitchell: St. Mary’s scored seven runs in the first and fourth innings, and added eight more in the second to end this one in four. The Pirates (5-6) got RBIs from eight players, including three each from Lana DeBakey, Kylie Barta and Natalie Godec. Morgan Trechter, Abby Torrence and Mackenzie Pepper each drove in two runs.

The Marauders (1-9) tallied five hits, and matched it with five errors.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Lakewood 1, Fountain-Fort Carson 0

At F-FC: The Trojans (0-3-2) failed to pick up their first win in a hard-fought loss. However, Fountain-Fort Carson can take a moral victory from the setback, as it hung with the No. 3 team in the state, according to MaxPreps.

FIELD HOCKEY

Mountain Vista 6, Liberty 0

At Shea Stadium: The trend of struggling on offense continued for the Lancers (1-4), who have been shut out in four games during this inaugural season.

Maddie Belcher had two goals and an assist for Mountain Vista.
