John Hickenlooper “pretty unlikely” to take Clinton cabinet post
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is putting cold water on the idea that he would join Hillary Clinton’s administration if she wins in November.
On the sidelines of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Hickenlooper said Wednesday that “it’s pretty unlikely I would take a cabinet position to be very blunt.”
The governor is considered a top prospect for a number of posts, particularly as secretary of Interior or Commerce, if the Democratic presidential nominee defeats Republican Donald Trump. And his comments at an energy policy hosted by Politico appears to contradict the prevailing wisdom that he is interested in serving if asked.
When asked Wednesday whether he would serve as interior secretary, Hickenlooper appeared less certain: “I don’t know. It would all depend on, you know, what exactly she wanted to have done and what her vision was.”
