Gov. John Hickenlooper to address Democratic National Convention
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and a rising star state lawmaker are scheduled to address the Democratic National Convention ahead of Hillary Clinton accepting the party’s nomination, organizers announced Thursday.
Hickenlooper made the Clinton campaign’s list of potential vice presidential candidates — though it looks unlikely he will get the nod — but remains in contention for a potential cabinet post if Democrats win in November.
State Rep. Crisanta Duran, a Denver Democrat and House majority leader, will also get a moment in the spotlight when Democrats convene Monday in Philadelphia for the party confab.
“It’s an absolute honor to be invited to speak to fellow Democrats next week at our national convention,” Duran said in statement. “The stakes in this election are high, and it’s critically important that we unite around our shared principles as progressives to keep the White House in Democratic hands.”
